Going From Rags To Riches Via Amazon – Shaahin Cheyenne
I started in the physical products industry when I was just 16. My biggest product was a smart drug that created close to a billion dollars of revenue by the time I was 18 years old.
The company became one of the largest supplement companies in the world.
I literally went from sleeping in abandoned buildings and on the beach here in Venice Beach California to becoming a multi-millionaire over night.
Now I teach students how they can also have success selling on Amazon.
One of the things that I often teach my students is that you have to think distribution first.
One of the most common problems that entrepreneurs face is that they focus almost entirely on the product.
They think that once they have a product organized, they can easily just go out there and sell it. What they should really be doing is the opposite by focusing on distribution first and foremost.
Amazon is the worlds biggest distribution platform.
Around 2009 had developed a new type of nootropic pill. We had a good subscription business going it was a really high-end product it was about 120 US dollars per month.
I saw on the news that Jeff Bezos just opened up his entire Amazon platform to allow not just books but also to third-party sellers, selling nearly whatever they wanted.
I put it up on Amazon. I didn’t think anything would happen because it’s $120 a bottle for the stuff.
The next morning we had thousands of sales and I looked at it and realized that there’s something to this Amazon thing and that is how we became one of the first sellers on the amazon platform.

Pull Marketing Vs Push Marketing
In our own course, what we teach is pull marketing rather than push marketing. The old way of disruption marketing is like those loud commercials that hit you over the head whilst you are watching television.
The new way of marketing is permission marketing. The best type of marketing is a cross between the two. Amazon has bought this to world and everyone is playing catch up.
If we want to be successful e-commerce sellers we have to learn to speak the language of influence we have to persuade buyers to buy our product and that’s done by speaking a very specific code that translates when people are on Amazon.
Google Is For Searchers, Amazon Is For Buyers
For example when you’re searching on google you’re looking for information presumably so you go and say hey I want to look at a pair of glasses and on google. You might get some shopping results but really you’re just fishing for information.
When you’re on amazon you’re looking to buy.
If they are on Amazon there’s a good chance they’re gonna buy.
