Grow & Scale Fast With Patrick McGuire
How To Leverage Other Companies Events And Audiences
We had been using Salesforce to run our business and we really loved it. It also ended up becoming a strategic move for us that allowed us to create massive growth.
We knew that it was one of the biggest tech players in the planet and the Dreamforce event and all the salesforce events; regional, provincial and national.
They were a great platform for us to speak from and we wanted to utilize their events as a marketing opportunity.
We didn’t go end up going to their events but we sort of hijacked their twitter streams and social media accounts during their events from right where I was in my loft.
We really really leveraged everything they had and then the number one thing we did is, we came up with the message, “customers say it best”.
That was our marketing and within the first week we had five new customers from launch so that is something that was really interesting and we continued that same methodology for two years until we had about 178 live customers on the platform.
We ended up being acquired in just 23 months.
How Did We Do It?
Anytime Salesforce said something relevant to us on their social media during the events, here is what we did.
- We tagged it
- We highlighted it
- We retweeted it
- We reshared it
- We said it again
- We tagged back to whatever their tags were
During these events thousands of people were checking and interacting with the Salesforce social accounts. This gave us an incredible amount of extra exposure.
That Was A Lot Of Work!
I personally did all of it. I had three computers running at my desk. One of them had two screens and we were just going bang bang.
So we were listening and reading on one and we were sending on the other two.
We were a bit sneaky and used different monikers which gave the impression that we had a lot more employees interacting on these posts.
Really it was just two people!
